Human rights activist killed
A human rights activist has been killed in Russia's republic of Kabardino-Balkaria. The victim, Maksharip Aushev, has been connected to the local opposition Internet site, Ingushetia.org. Aushev was at the wheel of his car, driving on the highway to the city of Nalchik, when the occupants of another car opened fire.
He died on the spot. A woman who was accompanying him has been taken to hospital.
