At least 46 killed, some 100 injured in 3 Baghdad bombings
At least 46 people were killed and more than 100 injured as a result of three powerful explosions that hit the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Monday, a doctor said.
"Our hospital received 46 bodies and 98 injured people. Other hospitals keep receiving dozens of blast victims," Saad Obeid from the Al Kindi hospital told RIA Novosti.
Al Kindi is not far from the Al Fardus square close to the Sheraton and Palestine hotels where one of the suicide bombings occurred during rush hour on Monday. The second explosion was near the Babil hotel in the city center.
The hotels are situated near the heavily guarded Green Zone, which houses many government institutions and foreign embassies.
The third blast targeted the al Hamra hotel in Baghdad's south.
Baghdad has been hit by three large-scale terrorist attacks since August 2009, killing some 400 people and injuring over 1,000, as well as numerous smaller incidents.
