US “high-information voters” want promised change
Thom Hartmann, a New York Times best-selling author and a radio host, told RT why Barack Obama did not bring the change that he campaigned on – “he is not challenging the real power blockers in this country.”
This is, according to Hartmann, the reason that brought people out on the streets, who are protesting health care reforms and the lack of movement on his other campaign promises, notably the US military campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Hartmann says American society is now made up of “high-information voters”. For several decades, beginning in the 1970s, Americans took little interest in politics, but in the time of an unstable economy voters – especially the young – have become more sensitive to it.
